Dr. Alison Gibson is an educational psychologist trained in South Africa, with over 15 years of experience across both educational and private sectors. She has worked extensively inSouth Africa and the UAE. Her expertise is in conductingcomprehensive assessments for diagnosing scholastic, emotional, behavioural disorders and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).

Dr. Gibson wears multiple hats in approaching children and families with difficulties in multiple settings, in line with her rich personal and professional experiences. She enjoys working within a multi-disciplinary team to best meet the child’s needs.

Her early experience included extensive work as a high school mathematics educator in both public and private secondary schools. In addition, she worked as a remedial tutor for children struggling with mathematics.

Dr. Gibson also worked as a secondary school counsellor addressing student well-being while at school, covering social, adjustment and personal issues. She maintained a private practice part-time working with children and adolescents. Alison enjoys working closely with parents and teachers for all her work, and hence is open to seeing clients in both clinic and school settings.

Alison’s professional and personal paths converged with the preterm birth of her daughter, who needed months of NICU care. Late, Alison completed her PhD research, which focused on fostering well-being in parents of preterm infants.Thereafter, she completed an intensive course covering perinatal loss. Alison consulted with a few private hospitals to see and support parents who had experienced perinatal loss and preterm delivery. Alison is committed to mental health, and she actively contributes to the professional community through presentations and collaborative care.

Alison’s passion is to focus on maternal well being and create a support group for parents of preterm infants.

Outside of work, Alison enjoys travelling, reading and spending time in nature.
